What is Probate?
Probate is the process of proving a deceased person’s Will is valid, which if successfully achieved gives the deceased’s executors / personal representatives the right to deal with all assets belonging to the deceased’s estate.
If the deceased died without a Will, or if the Will is invalid for any reason then the order in which people may be entitled to step forward and apply is determined by law and these people, when appointed are known as administrators. They would usually apply for a Grant of Representation.
